Review of The Final Solution

The Final Solution is a rare book indeed, and manages to stimulate both the emotions and the mind. It is two things: Firstly, it is a real page-turner, a thriller/mystery type novel which keeps you gripped from beginning to end, and secondly, it’s a story with a unique plot, which has thought-provoking implications about the world in which we live. The style is fresh, lively and direct, with excellent dialogue. You can see and hear the characters talking and are immediately drawn into the action. The pacing is excellent with no flat spots, just the occasional pause for breath. Not wanting to give away the plot I will just say that although it is not about religion, the implications of the subject-matter are potentially as far reaching and de-stabilising as those found in The Da Vinci Code, and are likely to spark off just as much debate.

The author says he endeavours to write “Thrilling stories with the boring bits left out,” and he has certainly succeeded with The Final Solution. You will not find a better novel to stimulate and entertain you. Highly recommended.

RReview of Human Shield

Written by an author who knows how to entertain, Human Shield is difficult to put down. Highly visual characters, realistic dialogue (reminiscent of Elmore Leonard) and a shocking ending are the ingredients that make this a novel that keeps you turning the pages. The style is crisp, direct and economical, yet highly visual - I felt I could really SEE the action unfolding as I read. If you are looking for a thrilling story to curl up with on the sofa, this one is definitely for you. Strongly recommended.

About Peter Kitson

"I started writing my own novels about twenty years ago because I was fed up with buying books with such poor endings that I regretted wasting the time I had spent struggling to get to the end of them. Others I had to abandon half way through because they had weak plots that didn’t seem to be going anywhere. I knew what I wanted in a novel but found precious few that had all the ingredients, so I decided to write my own.
Here’s what I think makes a good book:

A plot that goes somewhere - one that makes me want to turn the pages to find out what happens next. It has to have unforeseen twists and turns that shock and surprise me.

Characters I can easily see and identify with. The protagonist needs to be someone with whom I can empathise - someone I care about and really want to succeed in reaching his/her goal.

Crisp, realistic dialogue. I want to be able to hear the characters speaking and feel convinced I have just witnessed a real conversation.

Short descriptions that light up a picture of the object in my mind - just a few crucial details. I have an imagination and can fill in the blanks myself. I will get the picture!

Plots that are rooted in reality. I know it’s fiction, but I want to feel that I’m reading a story that could really happen.

High stakes. I like to read about identifiable characters battling to get out of unusual and dangerous situations. If the protagonist is going to fight let’s make sure he’s got a damned good reason for entering the fray!

Speaking techincally, I like print that is large enough to read without straining my eyes, paragraphs that aren’t too long, and regular chapter breaks, so I know that even if I don’t have much time I can start one get to the end of it without rushing.

Finally and most importantly, books written by authors who always remember their goal is to ENTERTAIN you, not to stun you with their knowledge of a particular subject or their 'clever' use of obscure words known only to compilers of crosswords and people who read dictionaries in bed!

Does this strike a chord with you? If it does, you are the person I had in mind when I wrote these books. Hope you like them!"

On a completely different subject, Peter Kitson struggled for years to lose weight. It struck him that the number of overweight people in the world seemed to be rising in proportion to the increase in available diets, exercise programs and low-calorie foods. Turning conventional wisdom on its head and employing some revolutionary thinking, he discovered why diets were impossible to stick to and were against the laws of physics. And then, he uncovered the unconscious secret of the 'naturally slim' - those who eat what they want and never gain weight. Within six weeks he had slimmed down to the lowest weight he had ever achieved on a diet - but did it without dieting or employing ANY WILLPOWER WHATSOEVER. Two years later he is still at the same low weight and has become one of the naturally slim. If you would like to find out how he did it click on www.permanentslimness.com
